Laboring Away!

This Labor Day weekend we have been doing anything but not laboring! We have been busy ripping up carpet, repainting walls, putting up the new bed, curtains, installing new floors etc. But alas we think we are finished. We got a Select Comfort mattress. The first night was a little different! David slept awesome, and I woke up with a sore back. I had my side set pretty firmly so tonight I will set mine to David’s settting! I need some sleep! While re-doing the room we haven’t slept the best! One night David slept in the guest bedroom upstairs and I slept on the top bunk in Mekhi’s room!

Mekhi’s Big Day!

Mekhi's First Day

The day Mekhi has been waiting for all summer long! His first day of Kindergarten. He was so excited to wake up and eat his new cereal, put on his new jeans, and his new shoes! And use his new batman back-pack of course! He was so anxious to get to school, he was not happy to hear me say I would be walking him in on his first day. “Ahh, Mom….can’t you just drop me off at the door?” Is this really happening already? Am I that un-cool? What kind of mother would I be if I just gave him the boot at the front door on his first day of Kindergarten? I didn’t even shed a tear! Isn’t that enough, Mekhi?

Interviewing..I need your help!

I just got a call from the Board of Education….the Principal at Mekhis school isn’t returning next year. He got a better offer elsewhere. The school board picks two parents from the school and includes them on the interview process to find a new principal. So, here is where you come in…….I have been invited to go. I am to bring three questions to ask. What is something you think is important to ask?

Giving in….

Here is me giving in to blogging. I warn you, it will be nothing amusing.

Monday is Mekhi’s birthday. He turns five! Amazing……..We had a HUGE turnout at his party. Seventy-four people came out and helped him celebrate! He won’t need another party til he’s ten!

Ironically, Monday is also David and I’s Seventh Anniv.

We are headed out tomorrow to L.A for some R&R. Take the kids here,here, and maybe here. The hotel is less than a mile from Disney so it should be handy. I plan on hitting up China Town, Hollywood, window shopping at Rodeo Drive, and David wouldn’t be complete without a stroll down Muscle Beach!

But before we take off we will be Walking For Autism. Thanks to all my great friends who donated and it’s not too late! Every penny helps!

How to grow a money tree: (not)

We finally got our tornado shelter installed Thursday.
Got a new car Thursday night. Traded in the gas guzzler for something a little more economical.
Had to get a new garage door on Friday. When we got home from the dealership and tried to shut the garage door, it started crushing like an aluminium can. David and I were up until 1:30 AM unbolting each panel of the garage door so it didn’t fall on the new car. It was a crazy week.

I think I’ll lay low while we recover this week

The rest of the weekend was filled with soccer games, end of the season soccer party and a nice time with my favorite worker Susie:) Drove down to Bradley to bring her home and hang out! We had a great time.
