Interviewing..I need your help!
I just got a call from the Board of Education….the Principal at Mekhis school isn’t returning next year. He got a better offer elsewhere. The school board picks two parents from the school and includes them on the interview process to find a new principal. So, here is where you come in…….I have been invited to go. I am to bring three questions to ask. What is something you think is important to ask?

Moni…you should call Amy or Amy or Andy…they would have some great questions for you to ask! Or hey, your Mom would be a good one too!

Cute picture at the top. I have absolutely NOTHING coming to mind regarding your request for questions. Good luck with that.

What a neat opportunity! To get to meet the candidates and help decide! I DESPISE typical interview questions.
What I would want to know is what the most important thing about a school is. Would they be big on behavior/ discipline? Or would it be curriculum? Or is it technology? There’s some reason that they chose administration and I’d like to know what that reason is.
Or maybe you would want to know how they would communicate with parents.
At Guthrie there was a huge problem b/c there was no accountability. Teachers could sit and do nothing all day and no one confronted them about it. So possibly asking them how they will make sure everyone is doing their job… after all it is YOUR child these teachers are supposed to be teaching! This is the person that will ensure that it’s done right.
Just a few thoughts! Have fun!

What a great opportunity. I have sat in on numerous interviews when traditional and off-the-wall questions were asked. I don’t think the questions themselves are the main thing. I would say to watch their eyes and look for honesty.

This is the question I brought with me:
Schools tend to take on personalities of their own that are generally influenced by the leadership style of the building principal. Based on this, what would West Field Elem. Look like if you were named principal?
I felt it was a great questions with awesome answers. Some were very gung ho and knew who they were and what they wanted and some didn’t have a very believable answer!!! It was a great opportunity!!!

What an intriguing situation to be in. I would have some questions for principals.
The one fact I found to be useful is how principals support their teachers. My principals can chew me out in private, but if in front of a parent, etc. they have my back, I will be a loyal teacher.
Did you like who was chosen?

Kari~ I absolutley adore who was chosen! She was my #1 actually when we had to rank them! She is so positive and is all about the teachers. It is obiously genuine though! Everyone loves her!!!
